in the long history of america's image with latin america, there were issues in terms of who america supported and who it did not support that gave this country a certain image. does that image linger in the perception of the vast mass of people in chile and in latin america? >> it is a lot. >> charlie: from country to country. >> the origin of the word "gringo." >> charlie: what is the origin? >> many americans are called gringos abroad. >> charlie: i know that. >> because they used -- a green uniform and people used to tell them, "green, go home." >> charlie: is that right?
